Norton R.A.C patrol

.

This is a genuine R.A.C Patrol combination, a 1955 Norton Model 18, with the original Log book showing the R.A.C as the first owner. These are very rare now as the R.A.C had their fleet broken up and scrapped, but somehow this one got away.
His actual owner was an R.A.C patrolman in 1957-58 patrolling the A25 between Westerham and redhill.
In 1926, H V Mason and R L Stockbridge were recruited by the RAC to be the very first patrol men.
Paid £4 a week, Mason and Stockbridge were provided with uniforms, Matchless motorcycles with sidecar outfits and enough equipment to make running repairs to most makes of vehicles.
